Pistachios are called the smiling nuts in Iran and the happy nuts in China. People in the Middle East sometimes refer to the pistachio as the smiling pistachio. The pistachio is a member of the cashew family, and is native to the deserts of Asia Minor and west India. Pistachio is the fruit of pistachio vera tree. Pistachio is a yellow-green colored nut found inside a hard, naturally beige colored shell.
